You Could be Sitting on a Gold Mine. Cash in That Old Gold.

Recent research by Mays Pawnbrokers & Jewellers claims UK consumers could be hoarding £31.2bn worth of redundant gold jewellery in their homes.

The research is based on a sample of 1000 people who had exchanged all their unwanted gold for cash. By projecting this result against 26 million UK homes and assuming most unwanted jewellery is 9ct gold, we’re sitting on almost as much gold as Fort Knox.
Consumers could cash this in for an estimated £1,200 per household against today’s exchange rate.

As jewellery goes in and out of fashion dated items are often just stored away never to see the light of day again until the grandchildren turn up at The Antiques Roadshow.
Time to cash in that old sovereign ring that always looked naff anyway, and the charm bracelet you’ll never wear again.

At Penman Clockcare we buy your old gold so pop in and talk to us now.

The Men’s Jewellery Market is Exploding

Jewellery designer Stephen Webster said the men’s jewellery market is “exploding” and a key area for growth, in a talk at International Jewellery London (IJL) in Earls Court, London, September 6.

Giorgio Martello Jewellery for MenDuring the talk, The Evolution Of Men And Their Jewellery, the designer said increased demand for jewellery from men has been intrinsically linked to the rise of male grooming. He said: “Previously men bought very little jewellery. But then they began grooming themselves for the first time, moisturising, deodorising, and then they began getting more into jewellery.”

Ice-Watches plan rapid expansion in 2011

The watch brand currently has 3,700 outlets in 81 countries across the globe, but plans to increase this by more than 3,000 stockists next year. Founder and CEO Jean-Pierre Lutgen said the company is currently stepping up its rate of production from 250,000 watches per month to 500,000 by next October to keep up with demand.

He said: “My aim for 2011 would be to sell between three and five million watches, and we hope to increase our distribution network to have a presence in more than 100 countries, with more than 7,000 outlets.”

The brand’s watches are currently being designed in Belgium and produced and assembled in Shenzhen, China, but it now has plans to compete in the premium Swiss-made end of the market. Lutgen said: “To reincorporate the Swiss aspect, we have registered another brand called Ice-Swiss so that we can unveil a new product in a top of the range segment.”

He added that the company’s success has been down to cashing in on demand for affordable fashion watches. He said: “Our success is growing because a watch is a fashion accessory, a badge of identity and an impulse buy and ours appeals to large numbers of people.”

The full range of Ice watches for men and women is available online now from The Watch and Jewellery Shop. Free UK delivery.

Jersey Pearl, Real, Affordable Pearl Jewellery

After twenty-five years as the UK’s largest pearl showroom, Jersey Pearl has channelled its extensive pearl expertise into the launch of its own brand of real pearl jewellery.

The launch of the Jersey Pearl brand of jewellery was well-timed, coinciding with the resurgence of pearl jewellery’s popularity. Models were once again gracing catwalks around the world wearing ropes of pearls. Music, television and film stars were wearing everything from simple freshwater pearl necklaces to elegant South Sea rings and pendants. Pearls are suddenly everywhere again, and Jersey Pearl has seized the opportunity to provide accessible and gorgeous, real pearl jewellery to a new market whose interest in pearls is just beginning to develop.

The Jersey Pearl collection presents a full range of pearl jewellery, including pearl charms, earrings, pendants, cufflinks, rings, bracelets and necklaces, incorporating both traditional and contemporary design elements. Most of the pieces incorporate Freshwater pearls but Tahitian, Akoya and South Sea pearls are also used to create some more extravagant designs. All the pieces within the range are made with real pearls that are used in their natural colours. This way, as Jersey Pearl’s director Mike Taylor explains, customers can truly appreciate the natural beauty of pearls. This use of natural colour gives the Jersey Pearl collection even more diversity as customers can choose from the brilliant whites and vibrant peaches and purples of the Freshwater pearls, from the brooding blacks, greys, blues and greens of the Tahitian pearls, from the dazzling shades of silver, blue and pink of the Akoyas and from the shades of silver and gold of the South Sea pearls.

In addition to using only real pearls that are never dyed, Jersey Pearl offsets the carbon footprint created by the pearl farming process, ensuring that each and every pearl used in its collection is CarbonNeutral®. Through its continued efforts, Jersey Pearl has in fact become the first and only CarbonNeutral® pearl company.
“Our position within the pearl market has shown us how worried industry leaders are about the impact climate change will have on pearl farming, which in itself can be a wonderfully positive environmental process. This is why we’ve offset the carbon footprint of our pearls by funding clean energy development and research, with the help of the well renowned CarbonNeutral® Company,” says Mike Taylor.
Customers can therefore rest assured that they are purchasing not only a high-quality product, but one that is environmentally responsible as well.

Jersey Pearl is the accessible pearl brand, with most of its pieces retailing in the £40-£150 price bracket. The brand promises value for money, with an emphasis on educating customers about pearls. With each purchase, customers will receive their high-quality, real pearl jewellery in Jersey Pearl’s unique, UK-made packaging, accompanied by the Jersey Pearl guarantee and a Pearl Type Card which gives a little more information on the pearls they have purchased, as well as how best to care for them.

At Designer watches and Jewellery we offer the complete range of Jersey Pearl Jewellery for men and women at affordable prices and free UK delivery.
